One thing I love about the fall and early winter is the abundance of pomegranates available. Learning how to peel and seed pomegranates can be challenging (and messy), but the end result is completely worth it. Pomegranates are sweet and tart, and the seeds are great toppings for salads, desserts, and more.

If you love the flavor of pomegranates as much as I do, check out this list of pomegranate frozen desserts. This selection includes ice cream, granita, syrup and a unique Italian ice cream cake. I highly recommend checking out the recipe for pomegranate syrup. Cooking down pomegranate juice and sugar will give you a thick, flavorful syrup that is amazing with desserts. Pour it over cake and ice cream or use it to mix drinks.
